5Legal aspects
- The Health and Safety at Work Act- places a
general duty of care on employers to ensure the
health, safety and welfare of employees whilst
they are at work - The Display Screen Equipment Regulations-
require employers to minimise the risks
associated with DSE work by ensuring that
workplaces and jobs are well designed

- Analyse workstations to assess and reduce risks
- Ensure the workstations meet specified minimum
requirements - Plan work activities to include breaks or changes
of activity - Offer eye and eyesight tests on request and
special spectacles if necessary - Provide training and information
