Title: Tuna Box Project
1Tuna Box Project
- 3rd and 4th period math classes
- E. Boudreaux
- January/February, 2008
2The goal of the project is to create a box that
will hold three 6-ounce cans of tuna.
3Students received instructions and rubrics.
4In their groups, they discussed various shapes
for their boxes.
5Each group created nets for three differently
shaped boxes.
6Groups calculated surface area and volume for
each net.
7The group then chose one net to use to build the
box. They transferred the net to a large piece of
paper, adding glue tabs.
8Students transferred the box pattern to poster
paper. Then they cut out the poster paper to make
a box.
9The groups then decorated the box and developed
advertisements for their tuna product.
10Students evaluated group members and rated their
performance.
11The whole grade voted on the most creative boxes.
