The tongue is a movable organ on the floor of a

  • The pharynx is the upper part of the throat where
    air passes to the lungs.

  • When swallowing a bolus a cartilage flap called
    the epiglottis closes so that food does not enter

  • Spit is another term for saliva
  • Saliva is a liquid that contains digestive
    enzymes, mucus, and other chemicals.
  • Saliva neutralizes some chemicals in food that
    cause your teeth to decay
