Ovaries

• Below and to each side of the navel
• Produces ova (Ovum). Ova (egg) is released from
  alternate side each month
• Produce estrogen, progesterone, female hormone

Fallopian tubes

• Extends from the ovary to the upper part of the
  uterus
• Fertilization happens here

Uterus (womb)

• Muscular organ between ovaries
• Holds developing baby
• Shaped like an upside down pear
• Normally about 3 inches but can stretch to 22
  inches

Cervix

• Lower part of uterus
• Opens into the vagina

Vagina

• Muscular tube 3-4 inches long which opens to the
  outside of the body.
• Passage for menstrual flow
• Receives penis during intercourse
• Birth canal

EXTERNAL ORGANS

• Fatty tissue that bulges over the pubic bone

Labia

• Liplike folds of skin that cover the vaginal
  opening

Clitoris

• Resembles small penis that contains blood vessels
  and nerve endings that are very sensitive
