Purpose
  • Isolation of DNA from fruit using common
    household items and visualizing

Materials
  • 1 tomato, peach, kiwi, strawberry.
  • 3 g NaCl salt
  • 10 mL clear shampoo
  • Water
  • 1 liter Zip Lock bag
  • 20 mL cold ethanol
  • Protease solution
  • Coffee filter, knife, beaker, water bath, ice

Step 1 Cut up fruit

Step 2- Mix fruit, water, shampoo, and salt

Step 3- Heat sample for 10 min at 60oC

Step 4 Place zip lock bag on ice till cool

Step 5- Filter solution and collect 20 mL of
extract

Step 6- Add protease solution and cold ethanol
