Lava Composition
  • The lava within the lava lake is alkalic in
    composition. Specifically, it is called
    anorthoclase phonolite. Anorthoclase is a
    feldspar mineral. Phonolite refers to rocks made
    of the minerals alkali feldspar and nepheline.
    Alkalic lava is common in rift volcanoes.
