High speed link The Channel Tunnel Rail Link
will give trains on the UK side of the tunnel a
dedicated route to and from London for the first
time. The 109km (67.7 miles) of track is the
country's first new railway for more than 100
years. The first section - from the Channel to
Fawkham Junction in Kent - opened in 2003, with
the rest expected to open in 2007.

New station St Pancras By 2007 a regenerated
St Pancras station in north London will be the UK
hub of Eurostar services, replacing the terminus
at Waterloo. The original platforms are having
to be lengthened to accommodate the huge Eurostar
passenger trains. Once the high-speed track is
fully operational journey times to Paris should
be cut by 20 minutes to two hours and 15 minutes.
