    including logistics and accounting wrap-up
    functions.

    against inventorycomputerized is most
    efficient.)
  • Return all internally acquired resources to
    applicable divisions.
  • Collect and store all temporarily issued
    equipment (e.g., riot gear).
  • Return all leased equipment to suppliers.

11
Question
What are some alternative methodologies for
obtaining input and information to critique the
security of the special event?
12
After-Action Report Alternative methodologies for
obtainingafter-action findings
  • Supervisors complete individual critiques (using
standardized questions). If the event continues
over more than one day, they complete a report
for each day (so they dont forget small
    details).
  • Members of the event evaluation team conduct
    debriefing interviews with event security
    supervisors, commanders, and others.

13
After-Action Report Alternative methodologies for
obtainingafter-action findings (continued)
  • Focus groups are held with event security
commanders and supervisors to discuss the issues.
  • Event evaluators spend time in the field during
the event to collect their own observations and
    critiques.

14
After-Action Report Common critiques
  • Didnt execute as planned
  • Communications breakdown
  • Inadequate training
  • Inadequate supplies

15
After-Action Report
  • Example
  • Seattle Police Departments handling of the World
    Trade Organization meeting in 1999
  • www.seattle.gov/Police/Publications/WTO/WTO_AAR.PD
    F
