Nouns
  • A noun names a person, place, or thing. A noun
    is a naming word.
  • Examples
  • I went to the park yesterday. The noun in this
    sentence is park.
  • Horses are so cool! Horses is the plural noun in
    this exclamatory sentence.

  • A proper noun names a particular person, place,
    or thing.
  • A proper noun is capitalized.
  • Examples
  • Admiral Perry traveled to the North Pole. The
    proper nouns in this sentence are Admiral Perry
    and North Pole.

Common Nouns
  • A common noun names any person, place, or thing.
  • Examples
  • I went to the zoo yesterday. Zoo would be the
    common noun in this sentence.
  • I saw the monkeys, birds, lions, and tigers. The
    common nouns in this sentence are monkeys, birds,

Plural Possessive Nouns
