from pre-historic times

The Theory Of The Channels

• The River Nile gave the Egyptians ideas about how
  the body works. The Nile had irrigation channels
  that farmers dug to water the fields. They
  thought the body had channels like these. There
  theory was that if these channels were blocked it
  would lead to disease. They flushed the
  blockages by making people vomit, using
  laxatives and bleeding people.

What Did They Learn?
With mummification they were able to learn about
some body parts. The Theory Of The Channels
helped them learn about the circulatory system.
Religion held them back about learning about the
heart more because it was seen as a very
important organ.
