Initial Setup

• Ensure that you are connected to the Internet.
• Launch Internet Explorer (version 5.0 or higher)
• Enter http//sam2003.course.com to visit the SAM
  2003 login page.
• Alternately, double-click the SAM 2003 icon on
  your desktop if IE is your default browser.
• If you are running this from home, the SAM
  software will need to be loaded on your computer
  to access assignments.

First-time SAM users will need to have purchased
a SAM package including a SAM 2003 keycode.
Logging in is different for first-time SAM
users than it is for existing SAM users who
already have a username and password.

If this is your first time logging in to SAM
2003, you will need to click the New User
button to begin. (If you already have a username
and password, you may simply click the Login
button.)

Enter the Institution Key given to you by your
instructor. This key starts with the letter S
and is followed by a series of numbers.

You will now need to enter the keycode contained
in your SAM 2003 package which you purchased from
the bookstore. This code can only be used once,
and cannot be re-sold to the bookstore or other
students.

Click the OK button to proceed. If you have
trouble with your keycode, there are additional
instructions on this screen.

Now, complete the User Profile screen to proceed.
The fields marked with a red asterisk are
required. Some information on this screen follows

Enter the required information and choose Save.

Once you have saved your profile, you should
click the Agree button on the license agreement.

The Welcome to SAM 2003 screen should appear.
Click the OK button to proceed.

In order to complete an assignment (an exam or
training module) you must be enrolled in a
section. SAM 2003 may be set up so that your
instructor assigns you to a section, or you may
be able to join a section on your own.

Choose the Join Section button to join your
instructors section.

You will see a list of available sections in the
left window. It is important to select the
correct section to join.

Choose the section you wish to join by selecting
it from the left window

then click the small right-arrow button to move
the section to the window on the right.

You should now see the section you selected in
the window at right.

Click the Save button.

You will either be listed as having joined the
section or you will be put on the Wait List to
join this section by your instructor.

At this point, and on any future visits to SAM
2003, you should click on the Assignments
button to see and complete any assignments which
are due.

If assignments are due, they will show in this
window and be listed under the Type column as
either an exam or training. Items listed with a
hyperlink can be launched by clicking on the
link. Items not listed with a hyperlink are
either not yet available or have already been
completed and may not be retaken.

Congratulations!

• You have successfully begun using SAM 2003!
• In the future, you can log in to SAM using your
  username and password which you set up. You will
  not need the keycode again, but you should keep
  any CDs you have in case you wish to install SAM
  on another computer.
• If you forget your password, it can be emailed to
  you from the login screen in SAM 2003 by clicking
  the Forgot your password? link.
• We hope you have a successful experience with SAM
