Characters

• The main character in Abels Island is Abelard
  Hassam di Chirico Flint, but everyone calls him
  Abel. He is a small, and a married mouse. He is a
  very nice mouse that cant find his way home.
• There really is only one other character which is
  Abels wife, Amanda. She is a regular mouse just
  like Abel.

Setting

• The setting in Abels Island is mainly in the
  wilderness. In the beginning Abel is hanging on a
  nail, which is attached to a board, which is
  stuck in a tree, which is in a river.

Tone of The Book

• The tone of the book is funny and good, but sad
  at the same time. It is sad because he cant find
  his way home, but it is happy because he got
  married and gets to look at cool things in the
  forest.

Beginning Plot

• In the beginning of the book Abel and his new
  wife, Amanda. When it starts to rain down on
  them. So they find their relatives and take
  cover. When they are in a cave they all look
  outside. Amandas favorite scarf flies off her
  neck and Abel foolishly jumped and tried to grab
  it. When he fell he landed in water and the storm
  took him away in the water. He fell down a
  waterfall and landed on a board which is attached
  to a tree. He finally found and island and tried
  many ways to get to the other side of the island.

Middle Plot

• Abel found a hollow log that he called his home.
  He also found a place on the island that he
  hadnt been to. He found two things, a clock that
  he got to work and a book. He read a chapter each
  day. One day when he was outside,and he saw an
  owl, it swooped down and grabbed him. He used his
  pocket knife to get out of the owls claws. And
  for a long time he tied his pocket knife to a
  stick, so if the owl tried to get him it would
  hurt because Abel would point the stick at the
  owl.

Ending Plot

• Towards the end of the book Abel meets a frog
  named Gower, and he and Abel became friends. But
  one day it was a good day for Gower to cross the
  river because the water was calm. Another day
  when the water was calm Abel tried to cross the
  river, and he made it!!! On his way home he
  caught up with a cat, but he found a way and he
  lost the cat. When he got home he waited for
  Amanda for awhile, but when Amanda finally came
  home Abel was so happy to see Amanda, and Amanda
  was happy to see Abel, and they lived happily
  ever after.

Awards

• Abels Island hasnt won any awards, but I think
  it should of, because it is funny and it is a
  book that a lot of kids would probably enjoy. I
  think it would probably be a better book for
  smaller kids, because it is easy to understand.

Recommendations

• I would recommend this book to a seven or eight
  year olds, because it has some pictures, and it
  is an easy book to understand. This book was ok,
  but it wasnt a book for an older person because
  it is fiction and is probably for a little child.
