• One day in Pac- Inn there were four ghosts
  checking in, in suite 613. Pac- Inn is in a world
  above the earth and stars and moon on a little
  invisible planet called Pac-a-Ghost. Pac-Man is a
  yellow god, which tried to destroy the ghosts by
  a war. Pacs goal is to kill the ghosts who
  create the evil ugly viruses.

• Viruses are software programs that are designed
  to attack programs on other computers. It can
  copy itself and spread. A virus can do anything
  that the creator (the ghosts) wants them to do.
  Viruses can be transmitted on the Internet, on
  memory disks, e-mails, even CD-ROMs. The only
  answer is a virus detection program, which is
  designed to search and destroy viruses.

• That is what the yellow god, Pac-Man is trying
  to do. He is trying to create a virus detection
  program to kill the viruses and even the ghosts.
  Who else do you think are the hackers who break
  through private codes on peoples computers? The
  ghosts. Who else do you think created all the
  ugly viruses? The ghosts.

• Some viruses are harmless and just replicate it,
  but the other ones can really damage your
  computer. Software viruses arent really that
  harmless but E-mail viruses can mail itself to
  everybody in your address book.

• Who do you think created the horrible viruses
  like the,the Melissa Virus, the Blaster Worm, and
  the Trojan Horse? The ghosts.

• A worm is a virus that looks for security holes
  in computer networks. Networks are groups of
  computers that are connected. When a worm finds a
  machine that isnt secure it copies itself to
  that machine and then looks for another.

• A Trojan horse isnt technically a virus but is
  a destructive peace of software disguised as
  something good. You might download it thinking
  that is a game or an MP3, but when you run the
  program it does something you really dont want
  it to do like erase your hard drive.

• The Melissa Virus is a Microsoft Word macro
  virus. It made many major companies shut down
  their e-mail systems.

• But viruses and worms just dont happen, someone
  or something has to create them and that is where
  the ghosts come in. They are the ones who create
  them. (Not in real life but in this story.)

• Another virus is the Software Virus (which I
  explained a little bit before.) Software Viruses
  hide inside computer files or software
  applications. They can erase files that you
  saved.

• The Blaster Worm targets a security issue related
  to the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Function that
  Microsoft addressed with a released security
  update. Blaster targets computers with
  out-of-date software, and those computers remain
  at risk of infection until the update is
  installed..

• This is a little bit of how people create
  viruses. A person has to write the code, test it
  to make sure it spreads properly and then release
  the virus. A person also designs the virus's
  attack phase, whether it's a silly message or
  destruction of a hard disk.

• You have to watch out for famous hackers like
  Kevin Mitnick. Computer terrorist Kevin Mitnick
  is one of the world's most famous computer
  hackers and became a cause celebrity after
  breaking into networks and stealing software at
  companies including Sun Microsystems and
  Motorola. Now Mitnick, from the United States,
  travels the world teaching companies how to guard
  against people just like him. This is all you
  have to know about viruses hackers and computer
  terrorists.

• Now to finish the story of Pac-Man Explaining
  Viruses. As you know all this time the ghosts and
  the yellow Pac-Man were fighting in war and the
  yellow Pac-Man won and created a powerful virus
  detection program which will stop all viruses and
  you can enjoy your computer games like Roller
  Coaster Tycoon, Treasure Mountain, or EJ. You can
  also type youre essays for school in peace. So I
