1.1 What is AEEPP
  • No profit association of companies - independent
    and democratic in its organization and
    functioning, funded in January 08 in Madrid.
  • Its activity is covering, but not limited to, all
    Spanish territory by means of its delegacies,
    keeping also in consideration the whole world
    through its international associates and
    partners.
  • President - Arsenio Escolar Ramos (20 Minutes).
  • Honorary President - Miguel de Haro Serrano
    (IPMark).

1.2 Mission
Represent, manage, promoting and defending the
interests and rights of editorial sector in our
country, focusing on our associates'
publications, concerning the themes of
distribution, points of sale, unfair competition,
relationships with Institutions, promotion,
sector fairs, diffusion supervision, agreements
trading, new technologies, formation,
professional ethic, and, in sum, all those
aspects related with editorial issues.

1.3 AEEPP Today
  • AEEPP is currently the largest association of
    editorial companies 140 publishers, 80 in the
    District of Madrid.
  • AEEPP is part of the Tripartite Commission
    negotiators of the General National Convention of
    Non-daily Press
  • Continuous formation of his associates, by means
    of seminars and courses regarding all subjects,
    e.g. design, modeling, administration, contents,
    new technologies, etc.
  • AEEPP maintains formal agreement with companies,
    institutions and universities, in order to
    facilitate the daily work of its associates.
  • This year has been signed an agreement with the
    Complutense University of Madrid to start a
    jointly Master's Degree in Administration of
    Editorial Enterprises.

1.4 The association in numbers
  • AEEPP is currently formed by 140 publishers, 80
    in the District of Madrid.
  • The publications associated to AEEPP are
    currently 648, 340 in the District of Madrid.
  • There are 90 digital publications
  • The total monthly circulation of all the
    publications associated to AEEPP is 104 million
    copies.
  • The monthly number of reader of this publication
    reaches 134 millions.
  • The annual turnover of the companies comprising
    AEEPP is over 250 millions.
  • The associates to AEEPP employ 2.464 workers.

2.4 Purpose of the Congress
Free Press is one of the most relevant happenings
affecting communication and journalism in the
last years. Spain has been one of the peak
countries in this phenomenon, and this is one of
the reasons we chose to hold here, in Madrid, the
1 World Congress of the sector of Free
Press. This project is very ambitious indeed,
expecting over 400 attendants, coming from many
countries, having as speakers the generators of
the most striking success cases in the world of
press creating for the first time ever a global
gathering of the sector of free press. Aim of the
Congress is to have contents rich of information,
with workshops and round tables, in order to
debate all the aspects related to free media, and
putting an effort in analysing and comprehending
the direction towards which the world of free
press will be developing in the upcoming decades.

2.5 Speakers
The technical committee is putting all the
efforts in the selection of the speakers to be
invited to the congress. In any case, it will
include the highest world authorities specialised
in free press and in all the disciplines
comprising the publishing environment contents,
distribution, marketing and promotion, new techs,
production, editorial management, etc.

2.7 Collateral Events
  • THE MANIFESTO OF MADRID
  • During the congress, all the participating
    representatives will be invited to a reflection
    on the intents, ending into a public declaration
    concerning the importance of free press. This
    declaration will constitute the MANIFESTO OF
    MADRID, and will be subscribed by all the
    conference participants.
  • 1ST INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF PUBLICATIONS
  • After the success obtained by the 1st National
    Exhibition of Publications in Salamanca, during
    the World Congress will be displayed all the
    periodical publications issued in Spain. In this
    occasion we will create an international section,
    gathering a large selection of the publications
    issued in the represented countries.
  • INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF FREE PRESS AND
    PUBLICATIONS
  • During the course of the congress, the AEEPP
    intends to found the above mentioned federation,
    having seat in Madrid, Spain.

2.8 Events to be confirmed
  • GALA DINNER
  • The technical committee is considering the option
    of moving the conferees to the city of Aranjuez,
    in order to visit the Royal Palace and the
    Gardens of the Prince, and afterwards
    participating to the Gala Dinner in the Casino of
    Aranjuez.
  • COMMEMORATIVE ACT
  • Together with the Madrid Town Hall, the technical
    committee is considering the possibility to
    create an event, so to give evidence of the
    happening of the World Congress in Madrid.
  • We would like to have each of the conferees to
    plant a tree, named after an editors
    publication in the same place we would place as
    well a commemorative inscription, including the
    MANIFESTO OF MADRID and the signatures of all the
    participants.
