Description

• The lion and lioness are tawny yellow.
• The male has a bushy, dark brown mane.
• Cubs have brown fur with lots of spots.

Habitat

• Lions live in Africa and Asia.
• They like grasslands, trees, dry lands and areas
  with lots of animals.

Characteristics That Help It Live

• Lions have the biggest mane in the world.
• They live in groups called prides.
• Prides have up to 25 lions.

Eating Habits

• Lions eat wildebeest, wild hog, gazelle, and wild
  duck,
• The also eat zebra, antelope, buffalo, warthog,
  impala, wild dogs, elephants, rabbits and water
  buffalo.

Enemies

• The elephants and the water buffalo are the
  lions enemies.

Protection

• When a cub is born it has dark spots that
  camouflage it.
• Lions live in prides.
• They have golden-brown coats that blend in with
  the land.

Relatives

• Lions are related to jaguars, mountain lions,
  spotted leopards, clouded leopards, cheetahs, and
  tigers.
