Equipment
  • Need 2 wickets (stools)
  • Bat wooden oval shaped paddle with a short
    handle
  • Ball a very soft ball such as a nerf ball

How to Play Stoolball
  • Many varieties
  • Need 2 teams-11 or less players
  • Mixed Teams-maximum 6 men for each team
  • Played on large grass area with marked boundaries
    for play
  • Strip of grass in middle with wickets/stools on
    each end 30 ft apart
  • Mark a Batters line 6ft from the home stool

Objective
  • Pitcher stands near Base stool
  • Throws ball underhand towards Home stool
  • Batter stands at Batters Line
  • Tries to prevent pitch from hitting Home stool,
    by hitting ball with bat
  • If ball is hit, batter runs to Base stool and
    returns back home.
  • If run is completed before fielders hit Home
    stool with ball, a run is scored!

Rules
  • Teams choose number of Overs per inning
  • Set of 8 balls delivered by pitcher 1 over
  • Inning ends when-set number of overs has been
    played or all but 1 batsman are out.
  • Captains flip coin to see who bats first
  • Swing as much as you want!
  • Any contact is considered a HIT
  • After hitting the ball, batter must run
    counterclockwise around the outside of the base
    and back home.
