Title: Invasive Species
1Invasive Species of the Chesapeake Bay
Mark Melmed Section61
2The Past Problem
The mute swan as shown here is one of the major
invasive species. It is hard to remove because
you have to remove them as eggs and that is a
very hard job.
- In the past plants and animals were brought over
for specific reasons and sometimes they got
loose. - Animals on the loose.
- Plants
This is a plant invasive species it was probably
planted instead of released.
3Whats Happening Right Now?
- Right now the invasive species are eating all
of the prey without a predator. - Ruining the ecosystem
- Destroying native plants and animals
- Technology
Again this is a plant invasive species and like
many others this was probably grown to look good
but grew to much and is taking all of the energy
from all of the other plants.
This is a plant invasive specie and its very
popular in the united states.
4The Data
- The data here shows the food habits and the
population of the Mute Swan. - Food habits
- Population
This graph shows the food that the mute swan eats
in this area.
This shows the population of the Mute Swan and
how that it has increased.
5Conclusions
- My conclusions to my research and the data are
that invasive species are a huge problem and
everybody needs to help if we want to see the
regular animals and plants. - Less organisms
- Dead ecosystems
- Taking them out
6Solutions/Recommendations
Im bbbad!!
- People could walk down to a nearby lake, pond, or
stream and just pull up some of the invasive
plants. Professionals could do the more serious
stuff like removing live wildlife, eggs, and
dangerous plants. - Removal
- Promoting clean-up
- Plant native.
This is a rapa whelk an invasive specie.
These are Mute swans they are a threat to the
environment and are hard to be taken out of the
bay.
7My Personal Action
Weeds and animals
- My personal action would be to go down to Rock
Creek stream and pull up some of the invasive
plants that I come across. I would put them in a
trash bag and then they would be disposed of
properly. This way more native plants can be
planted. - Everybody helping
Invasive plants take up all the energy killing
all the other plants.
Actual marine life is harder to move so its
easier to just remove the easily pull able plants.
This may look native it is also an unwanted
invader.
