3Question ???????
Do animals prefer fish from Sullys restaurant,
French Fries from Sullys, coleslaw from Sullys,
or peanut butter?
4Hypothesis
We think that more animals will eat the fries and
the fish because they have the strongest smell?
5Materials
Two heaping tablespoons of 3 different colors of
tracking powder 1 order of fish and chips w/
coleslaw from Sullys 4 cardboard trays w/
aluminum foil over them 1 jar peanut butter 2 dry
erase markers 2 sheet protectors 4 pieces of
paper 1 digital camera Marking tape 1 clip
board Duct Tape 2 pencils
6Procedure
- We made four trays and picked four different
places for them - Next on April the 12th we put out the trays and
put the powder on the trays. - After that we put the bait on the trays.
- When we were done setting up we took pictures of
the trays. - After that was done we drew what we saw.
- After a week we came back and recorded what
happened. - To make sure everyone knew that the powders and
everything we used was non-toxic we posted two
signs stating that.
7OBSERVATIONS
- All of the food that we placed out was gone.
- We found little amounts of powder at two of the
four stations. - The other two stations had no food and the
powder was gone. - There were no definite tracks but we thought we
saw squirrel tracks going up a
tree next to the station.
8DatA
The food (fish/tarter sauce) as well as the
powder was gone. We know that the food was eaten
by an animal because it was gone. The powder
however was washed away by the rain. The tray
was still at the site when we went to collect our
data.
Spot 1
9DatA
Spot two was much like spot one. The food (cole
slaw) as well as the powder was gone. The food
was eaten and the powder was washed away by rain.
Spot 2
10DatA
Spot 3 was exactly like 2 1. The food
(French fries/fish) was gone along with the
powder. The food got eaten and the powder got
washed away by falling drops of water.
Spot 3
11DatA
Spot four was mostly like 1, 2, 3. The only
difference was that we thought we saw some tracks
running up a tree. The tracks werent clear but
we guessed that they were squirrel tracks
Spot 4
12Conclusion
Our conclusion is that we need to come back
sooner than one week. We also need to do it when
there is no rain forecasted. The only other
thing we can conclude from our data is that the
animals really liked the food.
