    Defense.

Continuous Learning Center
  • The Continuous Learning Center provides online
    access to DAUs learning resources. The CLC is

Modules vs. Courses
  • Continuous learning modules are offered in an
    online format similar to the certification
    courses offered through DAU.
  • However, there are distinct differences between
    continuous learning modules and certification
    courses. A comparison chart is provided below.

CLM Development Team
  • In order to complete the tasks, sub-tasks and
    major deliverables, there must be a development
    team working together to complete the product.

Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Number of Hours up to 200 hours for a typical
    3-4 hour module
  • Provides content and general outline/objectives
    of module to instructional designer
  • Collaborates with the instructional designer to
    ensure content integrity
  • Provide resource documents, links
  • Participate in all reviews throughout the
    development process
  • Approves all content change requests (Lead
    Subject Matter Expert)
  • Develop draft test questions

Instructional Designer (ID/ISD)
  • Develops instructional objectives based upon
    outline/objectives provided by the subject matter
    experts
  • Collaborates with the subject matter experts to
    ensure content integrity
  • Organizes content to ensure learning objectives
    are satisfied
  • Develops deliverables and incorporates changes
    from review cycles
  • Assist in developing test questions
  • Develops the module in an online format
  • Often acts a programmer as well as instructional
    designer
  • Ensures product meets SCORM and 508 accessibility
    standards

Quality Assurance Instructional Designer (QA)
  • Provides quality review of all deliverables in
    the module development effort
  • Ensures guidelines and specifications needed to
    understand development and deployment processes
    are provided to all members of the development
    team
  • Reviews courseware for instructional soundness,
    appropriate interactivity and functionality,
    SCORM and 508 accessibility standards

Other Roles
  • Other Roles in a module development include
  • Continuous Learning Center Manager Ensures
    contracts are in place, coordinates all subject
    matter experts and contractors through the
    development effort, approves deliverables,
    instigates go live process.
  • Program or Project Manager (from Contractor)
    Gathers requirements, writes the module
    development contract, ensures there are
    contractors and/or sub-contractors to complete
    the module development tasks, submits
    deliverables
  • Graphic Artist Creates graphics, videos,
    animations, etc. for the module.
  • Learning Management System Administrator Ensures
    that the module will function in the online
    delivery and tracking system, uploads files and
    troubleshoots online delivery issues.
