• A Specification detailing materials to be used.
• The Method that will be used to install the item.
• The Quantity of the material required to complete
  the task.
• An Estimated Cost of the material and labor
  required to complete the task.

• A Specification describes, in great detail, the
  material and its attributes that will be used in
  the completion of the task.
• Size or quantity of material required.
• Composition wood, fiberglass, vinyl, tile,
  linoleum, brick, Hardi-plank, tile, etc.
• The material attributes color, texture, pattern.
• Quality or manufacturer name brand (or equal)

• A Specification describes, in great detail, the
  method of installation that will be used to
  complete the task.
• Attaching hardware type.
• Procedures and steps necessary to ensure

• Distribute the Request for Bid among as many
  QUALIFIED contractors as possible.
• Compare your cost estimate to those received from
  your contractors.
• Select best (not necessarily lowest) bid.
• Ignore Low Ball bids.
• Negotiate final cost with selected contractor.

  Write-Up. Explain each item.
• Include the Request for Bids in the Final
  Contract.
• Have the home owner and contractor initial each
  page of the Request for Bids as part of the Final
  Contract.
