    into the deadly traps of misusing apostrophes and
    the word hopefully!
  • Today we will the solutions to these scary
    mistakes!

How to use it
  • An apostrophe is used to indicate possession and
    form contractions.

Apostrophe
  • People commonly misuse apostrophes producing
    mistake filled writing?
  • Example Some outpatient's are given special
    parking permits.

Possession
  • Example of using an apostrophe for ownership.
  • The peoples champion is Muhammad Ali.
  • Incorrect I want to buy many CDs.
  • This means a CD owns something!

Contraction
  • Contractions were invented in the old days
    because painters ran out of space!
  • Correct way to use a contraction theyre
    wrong.
  • NOTE These are good to use for less formal
    writing.

  • Surprise!! It is always incorrect to use at the
    start of a sentence Hopefully
  • Hopefully, I will be able to see that movie.
    is incorrect!! "It is to be hoped, is
    incorrect. Instead use I am hopeful that.
