1Supramolecular dynamic porous networks resolve
mixtures of oligomeric a,?-diiodoperfluoroalkanes
in solution and through gas-solid reactions

- A new supramolecular approach to separate
I-(CF2CF2)m-I mixtures (m1-6) is based on - the programmed formation of dynamic and
selective porous networks thanks to I?I-C - halogen bonding
- the matching between the cation size and the
supramolecular anion size
Rule of thumb bis-onium iodides with 2m6
methylene groups allow the separation of
a,?-diiodoperfluoroalkanes with m
difluoromethylene groups. For intsance,
tetradeca-, hexadeca-, and octadeca-bis-onium
iodides allowed the quantitative separation of
I-(CF2CF2)4-I, I-(CF2CF2)5-I, and I-(CF2CF2)6-I
in pure forms out of crude industrial mixtures.
