Hunting

• Winter Inuit men hunt for seals on the ice as
  they come up to breathing holes.
• Spring Hunt for seals as they sun bathe.
• Summer and Fall Hunt caribou and fresh-water
  fish

• Inuit people layer clothing in the fall and
  winter. The inner layer of this clothing is lined
  with animal fur for warmth.
• During the Spring and Summer a single layer of
  clothing is worn.

• Sealskin is waterproof and light-weight great
  for summer clothing. Sealskin can also be made
  into boots and mitts.
• Dried grasses and mosses were used under feet to
  absorb sweat and in baby pouches as a diaper.

• Seal and walrus intestines are made into jackets.
• Driftwood is used to make weapons, boats, and
  sleds.
• Teeth and claws are made into jewelry and
  clothing decoration
• Horn can be used to make snow goggles.

Traditional Womens Work

• After a caribou hunt, women prepare skins for
  clothing. It takes 300 hours of work on 27
  caribou skins to make clothes for a family of
  five.
• Women also make earrings, necklaces, bracelets,
  and hair ornaments from ivory, copper, stone,
  shells, and small bones.
