The Scheduling Process
  • AHS Guidance Counselors-
  • Monica Parker Kelly Statham
  • Counselors visited EMMS on April 8th and RMS on
    April 9th to present course selection information
  • Students received a Course Selection Guide and
    Course Selection form
  • Students are encouraged to use the Home Access
    Center to enter his/her course requests
  • Course Requests can be entered until April 17th

Block Scheduling
  • Students will have four 90-minute periods per
    semester. Each period is a block
  • All courses except Algebra I w/ Stats will be
    offered in a 90 minute block period for one
    semester
  • Algebra I w/ Statistics will be offered all year
    within a block

  • Promotes depth of instruction
  • Teachers will use various instructional
    strategies to improve student achievement
  • Increased number of courses students can take
    within a year
  • Less time spent on class changes

  • 3 credits in a Career Pathway are required for
    graduation
  • The Career Pathway is not a life- long career
    choice and may not necessarily be something a
    student would like to pursue following graduation
    from high school

Athletics cont.
  • A sports information night will be held over the
    summer for fall sports
  • Tryouts will start August 15th
  • Students who wish to participate in any athletic
    program must have a sports physical prior to
    tryouts for that sport

  • PBS Coordinator Mrs. Laura Wilkerson
  • A philosophy that promotes positive behavior to
    support student learning in the school community.
