Teacher Staff Reinforcement
  • As a UBI team we are very proud of the way we
have reinforced our staff over the past two
years. We work with great people and it has been
a lot of fun to use the same principles of PBS on
our teachers that we have been using with our
    teachers.
  • Staff reinforcement has been the most effective
way of helping our more resistant teachers and
staff to climb aboard the UBI train. Remember 4
    positives to every negative!!!!!!!!

3
Rationale
  • Staff reinforcement was a natural evolution for
    the UBI Team.
  • Our team wanted to improve staff morale and make
our building happier, kinder, and more gentle
    place to be.

4
Data indicators
  • Because we showed appreciation for what staff
members did, we had better buy-in with the
    interventions we implemented. Teachers were
willing to do more because they felt appreciated.
We had the happiest school on earth.

5
Trends and changes in data indicators after
intervention
  • At the beginning of the year, none of the
    teachers had posted procedures.
  • Using a tracking sheet, we were able to record
that over 80 of the teachers had posted and were
    reinforcing classroom procedures.

6
Implementation Description
  • In order to gain and maintain staff support, we
resorted to legal addictive stimulants, such as
chocolate and lunch treats for completing the
requested assignment. We used the Flory Tracking
    Sheet to record the data.
  • When the staff responded positively, they were
rewarded with tokens for car washes, candy bars
in their mailboxes, and a myriad of other
    reinforcements.
  • Staff members are always given a template or a
shown a demonstration to model the given task.

7
Most recent data
  • The most heavily requested legal addictive
    substance data.

Dark Chocolate
Nutty Chocolate
Light Chocolate

General Discussion
  • Eighty percent () of our teachers are on board
    with UBI?
  • A happy teacher is a patient teacher?
  • Dont underestimate the power of CHOCOLATE!!!
  • Our teachers need to be rewarded as well as the
    students.
