My Position
  • Violence on T.V. for young children is a problem.
  • They dont know real from fake.
  • Teaches them violence is a solution.

5
Whose to blame?
  • Both Broadcasting corporations and Parents are to
    blame.
  • Broadcast corporations Only use cartoons that
will sell, especially toys and because its
    cheap.
  • Parents Arent aware of what their children are
    watching and are desensitized.

6
Opposition
  • B.C. teaches good vs. evil, conflict
    resolution, and characters learn lessons.
  • Parents dont think all forms of fighting is
bad, and they grew up on the same thing.

7
What it really means.
  • Conflict resolution through Violence.
  • Learn violence is the solution.
  • Fighting is bad.
  • Parents did not grow up with same type of
    violence.

8
Solutions for B.C.
  • The FCC can require guidelines for childrens
    television programs.
  • The legislation could require standards for the
television industry that could control the amount
    of violence in programs.
  • It could also require more developmentally
    appropriate and educational programming.
  • Also the FCC could have a better information
system that tells about the programs and what the
    program consists of.

9
Solutions for Parents
  • Parents can spend more time watching the programs
    with their children.
  • They can also monitor the amount of time their
    children watch T.V.
  • Have approved choices of different shows that
    their children can watch.
  • Write letters to the sponsors of the children
    shows.
  • Encourage their legislators to adopt policies to
    protect children from media violence.
