Peer Groups (Project Support Groups)
  • to offer constructive criticism and support to
    peers on project content and progress (a kind of
    self-help group).
  • advise their peers on the strengths, weaknesses,
    risks and opportunities of individual projects.
  • as assessees
  • students will benefit from the critical appraisal
    and support of fellow students.
  • as assessors
  • students will gain an insight into projects other
    than their own and have responsibility for
    constructive comment on a colleagues work.

Project Support Group - Terms of Reference
  • meet on a weekly basis, and minute proceedings.
    These minutes to be forwarded to Don McFall
    (d.mcfall_at_ulster.ac.uk) at the end of each week
  • Proforma exists on the website
  • Include the following details
  • members of group - present/not present (email
    addresses)
  • issues discussed
  • matters of concern
  • issues for attention of project co-ordinator

Project Support Group - Terms of Reference
  • forum to exchange information on relevant matters
    such as useful manuals or internet resources.
  • discuss any matter of concern regarding (a)
    Project Preparation and (b) course in general
    where it relates to project work.
  • resolve any queries internally and document in
    minutes.
  • exceptionally, where an issue cannot be resolved,
    highlight for attention of the Project
    Coordinator.

Project Support Group First task / Weekly tasks
  • Introduce yourselves (if required) and your
    project.
  • Tell your peer group about your project, what
    problem you intend to solve, how you intend to
    solve it - provide weekly update
  • Address the peer group topic. E.g. Review the
    initial report. Do you understand what is
    involved. What are aims and objectives? What is a
    plan? What is monitoring and control?
  • Complete the proforma
  • Bring up any outstanding issues with the
    coordinator
  • Elect a chairman
  • Chairman emails the completed proforma to
    coordinator
