3- Description
- This program will review the
- process of setting up an effective
- peer review system.
- It will show how the program can
be developed, who should be involved and what the
components of such a program should be. The
process needs to be centralized with immediate
oversight from the medical executive committee.
There should be a physician who is a senior
member of the hospital executive staff who has
overall responsibility for managing the peer
review system. There should be a centralized
committee, possibly a subcommittee of the medical
executive committee, which manages the peer
review system. - Effective peer review requires a
concentrated effort to make sure that it
identifies problem areas and problem
practitioners. It needs appropriate protocols so
that the program and its output remain objective
