Selected Strategies

• Planning Calendars and Assignment Logs Teach
  students to record deadlines and due dates
  systematically.  Time Management Teach
  students to plan short- and long-term
  assignments.  Planning Long-Term Projects
  Teach students to budget their work time by
  providing time lines and study plans. 
  Budgeting Study Time Teach students to budget
  study time through consistent review, thereby
  preventing last-minute panic.

• Homework Logs Teach students to record their
  homework assignments and a list of the books they
  need. They should also check off their logs after
  their work is complete and they have placed it in
  their school bags. Parent signature required. 
  Test Preparation Teach short- and long-term
  planning strategies.  Organization Teach
  students a system for organizing their desks and
  lockers at school.   Notebooks and Folders
  Remember that different systems work for
  different students. For example, some students
  are successful with folders that are color-coded
  by subject, whereas others are systematic enough
  to utilize Trapper Keepers.

• Color-Coding Teach students to color-code
  materials for each class.  Checklist Teach
  students to tape checklists to items needed for
  each class to the front of the book used in that
  class.
