- Admission to the study program is limited by the
number of training places, which is regulated by
the Ministry of Education and Science. - Entrance based on the results of Matura
examinations through the common system for all
higher schools.

17Curriculum
- According to the Law of the Continuum Education
Programs issued by Lithuanian Education and
Science Ministry (?1326, 26 10 2000), all the
subjects in the curriculum are divided into three
groups - General university education subjects
philosophy, professional ethics, general
psychology, sociology, informatics, research
methods, computers, foreign language, Latin
language, language culture, management and
elements of economics, medical law, pedagogic,
social care (28 credits in total). - Basic nursing program subjects human anatomy,
normal physiology, medical biochemistry,
genetics, health ecology, microbiology, general
pharmacology, clinical physiology, pathological
anatomy, evaluation of health status, nutrition,
clinical pharmacology, community nursing, health
promotion, rehabilitation, disaster medicine (in
total 40 credits). - Specialized nursing program subjects fundamental
nursing, communication, technique of nursing,
medical nursing, surgical nursing, adult nursing,
special nursing, mothers and child nursing,
elderly nursing and palliative care, intensive
medical-surgical nursing, specialized practice
(62 credits). - Elective courses make up at least 25 of the
curriculum (30 credits).

- 3. Bachelors Theses (either the final exam by
the examinations board) - Students who pass the examinations or defense the
bachelor project are awarded a diploma confirming

professional development)
 The nurses who wish to practice are required
by law (The Ministry of Health Care) to notify
their intention to do so every five years. To be
able to continue their license for practice they
have to collect 100 hours of continuing training.
