Overview

• Outline authors opinions of a good approach for
  a DNA
• Tries to identify a piece of work that is needed
• Key idea check whether connected to the same or
  a different link

DNA Solution Components

• Link Identifier
• Explicitly represent the identity of the
  currently attached link
• RA optimized for DNA
• with Link ID so that a host can check for link
  change upon a single RA reception
• with necessary information for a new IP
  configuration so that a host can immediately
  create a new one in case of a link change
• Quick RA acquisition
• A way to quickly deliver an RA to a host upon a
  new link-layer connection
• Optimistic DAD TSLLAO
• specified in the IPv6 WG

DNA Solution Procedure

• Hint
• An indication that a link change might have
  occurred
• Could be a link up from the L2 device driver
• Receive an RA as fast as possible
• By sending an RS, or through other means
• Determine if the same of a different link from
  the RA
• If a different link, use the information in that
  RA to immediately create a new configuration

Work Needed

• Link Identifier
• Immediate RA response to RS
• Optionally RAs that are sent by L2 entity, such
  as AP
• Optimistic DAD TSLLAO (in IPv6 WG)
• Figure out when DAD or MLD is triggered in the
  sequence of events
