  • Boys are allotted more time to answer questions
  • Interact with males more frequently (spoon feed
    them the answers while expect girls to know it)

  • Teachers expect girls to always know the answer
    quickly be involved in discussion
  • Girls are expected to follow the rules
  • Teachers give girls more responsibility
  • Girls receive compliments on their attire

Myths
  • If women were educated they would not menstruate
    and could no longer produce male children.
  • Feared the loss of romance arguing that if men
    women learned together the mysterious attraction
    between the sexes would evaporate.
  • At recess girls are given jump ropes and boys are
    given kick balls. What if a girl wants a kick
    ball? (Bigger playground area)
  • Women cannot risk their health by learning math,
    science philosophy because they have no use for
    it.
  • Girls are smaller, weaker, slower, and not good
    in sports.

History Timeline of Women in College
  • 1950s women would attend college to meet their
    husbands.
  • A form of finishing school.
  • 1960s an official womens rule book was
    distributed limiting them to the types of
    activities, men could freely do.
  • 1970s rule book discarded completely.
  • Sexist comments were starting to be experienced
    and 68 of women received unwanted attention from
    men.
  • 1980s sororities and fraternities were formed
    more emphasis was placed on fraternities.

Self-Esteem
  • Boys are content with who they are while girls
    are not. (This is at time of puberty)
  • One important retain their self-esteem is because
    they are good at a lot of things.
  • Self-esteem higher in males because of more
    confidence in their athletic ability.
  • Girls do not think adults them to be able to do
    things because throughout school they are
    interrupted in attempts to accomplish things on
    their own.
  • Girls are more worried about social success and
    boys look to males to receive approval.
