  ridges and furrows as well as the minutiae
  points.

How does it work?

• Electronic reading of a finger to create a
  template for future verifications.
• Full finger image and minutiae based two
  primary methods of fingerprint reading.
• Two types of technologies that combine these two
  methods.
• 1. Optical method taking a visual image of a
  finger.
• 2. Semiconductor-generated electric field to
  image the finger.
