Title: Cell Organelles
1Cell Organelles
Tiny organs that help the cell function.
2Cell parts
- Cell Membrane
- Cytoplasm
- Endoplasmic Reticulum
- Cell Wall
- Centriole
- Vacuole
- Nucleus
- Chloroplast
- Ribosome
- Golgi Body
- Lysosome
- Mitochondria
-
3Cell Membrane
A double layer that protects the
cell and allows materials in and out.
4Nucleus
The control center of the cell. Where DNA is
copied. This tells the cell what to do. (The
brain of the cell)
5Cytoplasm
Jelly-like fluid inside the cell that protects
and supports the organelles, takes up space and
controls temperature.
6Ribosomes
Make protein for the cell.
7Endoplasmic Reticulum
- Transports chemicals between cell and within
cell. - Breaks down some medicines.
- Makes lipids (fat).
-
- Packages proteins for release from the cell.
- Rough E.R. has ribosomes on it.
- Smooth E.R. does not have ribosomes on it.
- Provides a system of transport from the nucleus
to the cell.
8Golgi Body
- Stores chemicals
- May produce ER
- Makes Vacuoles
- Packages and transports materials out of the cell
9Lysosome
- Digests food particles,
- wastes, and foreign
- invaders.
- Protects the cell
10Mitochondria
- Site of cell respiration.
- Creates energy for the cell by breaking down
food to form ATP (A special moleculeof energy)
11Vacuole
Produces pressure on cell wall for support.
Stores water and other chemicals. May store
wastes. Take up most of the area in a plant
cell.
12Cell Wall
Provides protection from injury to the cell and
provides support.
13Chloroplast
Plant Cell
Where the cell gets nutrients by photosynthesis.
Contains Chlorophyll the green pigment
14Plant Cell vs. Animal Cell
- Plant Cells
- Have all the same
- organelles animal
- cells and
- Have cell walls
- Have chloroplasts
- Have big vacuoles
