As TCSs workforce grows and makes its presence
felt in varied parts of the globe it becomes
imperative to nurture a feeling of pride and
belonging among the employees and their families
by encouraging them to empower themselves and the
community they live in.

- TCS-Maitree came into existence on February 23,
2002 in Mumbai - Over the last 5 years events have been organized.
Thousands of employees and their families have
participated - There has been a tremendous response for
volunteering to help with community projects

6How are activities designed?
- A Focus is directed each quarter on a country
for e.g Focus-Japan - Activities are suggested by the TCS ers and
different depending on the needs of the location
and group. - An effort is also made to intermingle various
age groups and interests through activities such
as yoga and the MusiClub - There is a conscious effort to give inputs and
broaden the horizons of the women by sharing and
showcasing their expertise and talents - Community involvement- Volunteers are supported
and training is a systematic, continuing process.

Activities promoting art and culture- MusiClub,
Dance, Yoga, Origami, Ikebana, craft,cooking
workshops, Educational activities -Setting up
libraries for children. Computer training
workshops for adults,support staff and
children,talks on various subjects,Quiz-Couple of
Questions Social causes- Blood donation camps
drives to collect food, clothes for the riot
affected in Gujarat helping NGOs involved in
rehabilitation of street children

10Rationale behind TCS-Maitree
- Bring together employees in an informal but
meaningful environment - Family units are made aware of the companys
values and organizational issues thus enhancing
the synergy with the corporate - The activities are designed to cater to various
facets of an individuals personality -enhancing
self worth.

- Scattered international workforce
- Building bridges between corporate,employees,
their families and the community - High energy levels of the young workforce need
meaningful outlets - Identification and sense of belonging needs to be
built with the Company - Employee relocation high. Maitree seeks to reach
out to its employees and their families to add
value to the relocation process - Spouses often give up employment. Involvement in
Maitree/TCS would be a creative and learning
outlet.

- A lot of TCS spouses do not take up formal
employment due to frequent relocation. They
should be given a platform for realizing their
potential - Most of them have talents that can be very useful
for the corporate - Spouses,parents,children need to understand the
work environment in the corporate - It is also important that TCS recognizes the
familys contribution and support
