• New Weapon Pitch

Overview

• In order to research tech and buy new
  units/buildings, minerals have to be collected
• The NPCs (meat shields) should be mining
  minerals when they are idling around
• Currently there is no means for anybody to
  collect anything

A Tool

• I want to add a tool that can be used to mine the
  minerals with
• We were thinking along the lines of maybe a
  pickaxe, or (since the theme is for things to be
  organic) some kind ofwooden mining device.

Why?

• Because you need something to mine stuff with
• When you run out of bullets you can hit people
  with it

Timeline

• 1. 5/17 Have the code for the pre-existing pick
  axe copied over and start looking into how the
  code will be adjusted
• 2. 5/22 Complete concept sketches and prepare
  and learn how to model new weapons

Timeline cont.

• 3. 5/24 Finish the coding for the pickaxe.
  Begin preparing the test mineral
• 4. 5/31 Have the model complete and ready to be
  imported (although not sure if this is possible
  yet?).
• - testing should be finished and weapon should be
  good to go

Where do we start?

• Luckily, theres already a pick-axe like weapon
  in half life 2
• Initially, we need to hack the code in that
  weapon and tweak it to our needs
• We need minerals to mine. Use one of the objects
  in Hammer and pretend its a mineral

Product

• This weapon shouldnt do too much damage
• It will be able to mine minerals. Meat shields
  will do this, and you can do it manually as well.

Future?

• Upgrade to the mining tool can mine faster with
  it
• Can do more damage too
• Maybe have different minerals that can only be
  mined when the tool is upgraded
