  • National Health Promotion Project for Hundreds
    of Million Chinese Farmers, formerly named the
    900 Million Farmers Health Promotion Project, is
    the only health promotion project joined by seven
    ministries and aims to attack major health
    problems of rural areas. With its basic strategy
    of incorporating mass communication and
    interpersonal communication, the Project has
    promoted primary health care, popularized health
    knowledge, and enhanced individual health-care
    awareness and initiative, resulting in improved
    health for the farmers.

    input. The provincial NAHPF Programme has been
    setup already or will be set up.

    distributed to county-level and municipal-level
    staff.

    didnt only distribute the Programme but also
    adapted the provincial Programme to the local
    situation
  • Sichuan, Jiangsu, Henan and Shanxi gave
    advice on how to better implement the Programme.

  • a. Holding locale meetings of project
    coordinators in Sheyang county, Jiangsu Province.

  • In the meeting, the project new name, NAHPF,
    was decided, and the coordinators discussed the
    implementation of the Five-year Project Programme.

  • For improving the NAHPF influence in mass media,
    we held the seminar. There were 33 people from
    the CCTV and provincial TV station in attendance?

  • 4. Strengthened the media of NAHPF, and expanded
    the recognition rate of the project
  • Collected and selected the logo of NAHPF
  • The advertisement for the logo contest was
    shown on China Youth Daily, China TV Program
    Newspapers, and the sina.com. We selected 20
    qualified ones from 340 submitted logos. Finally,
    we selected the logo designed by the Zhangzi
    Design Company as the NAHPF logo. Twenty-one
    deputies from UNICEF, the officers in the seven
    ministries, and the mass media took part in the
    selection of the logo.

  • b. Invited the famous actor, Mr. Niu Qun , to be
    the good-will ambassador of NAHPF
  • For expanding the recognition rate of NAHPF,
    we invited Mr. Niu Qun to be the good-will
    ambassador for NAHPF. We awarded the letter of
    appointment to him, in Mengcheng County, Anhui
    Priovince, in September of 2002.

    country on the Spring Festival Evening of 2002.
  • d. Production of the IEC Material
  • We Invited the experts to design the NAHPF
    poster and the poster for the Golden Mike
    Campaign, and printed 10,000 pieces for each.

  • The public service announcement.
  • We made two PSA. The theme of one PSA was
    Dont forget your health when you make money.
    Only if you are healthy, can you make more money
    and the other is You shouldnt take injection
    and transfusion unless absolutely necessary, so
    as to prevent AIDS and the hepatitis B
    transmission.
  • The two PSA were shown on the prime time of
    the CCTV-2, CCTV-7, the Yunnan Provincial TV
    Station, the Inner Mongolia Provincial TV
    Station, the Jiangxi Provincial TV Station, the
    Guangdong Provincial TV Station, the Gansu
    Provincial TV Station,the Chongqing TV station,
    and other main television stations.

mass media
  • 1. The Golden Mike Campaign for County Health in
    all of the country
  • The Golden Mike campaign is an activity
    implementing the Five-year programme. The goal
    is to communicate health knowledge to rural
    people through county broadcasting stations.
  • The campaign has been listed in the notice of
    12 ministries, as important activities during the
    last winter and this spring. The provincial
    project office in Jiangsu, Guangxi, Qinghai,
    Hubei, Inner Magnolia, Heilongjiang, Sichuan,
    Yunnan, Anhui, Fujian, Shanxi, Beijing and
    Tianjing joined in with their own initiative,
    totaling about 100 counties taking part in the
    campaign.

  • 2.Cooperated with the Universe of Health (UoH)
  • The programme is a channel to the rural people
    for NAHPF. The NAHPF office supported the update
    the program, and duplication and mailing of the
    video tapes. The UoH made 12 special programs for
    NAHPF in 2002.

  • 3.The Road to Health-Guangan travel
  • The theme of the program, produced live for
    CCTV-1, is for the health of hundreds of Million
    Chinese Farmers. The state commissary, Peng
    Peiyun, and the minister of MoH, Zhang Wenkang
    took part in the program.

  • 4. The Health Promotion Art Exhibition of NAHPF
  • The Art Exhibition was held in Labors
    Culture Hall, from 7th to 10th of December, 2002.
    There were over 200 pieces shown in the
    exhibition, which were created by the farmer
    artists in Jinshan County Shanghai and Huxian
    County Shanxi Province, and the artists of Health
    Promotion Institute. The officers in MoH, UNICEF,
    NPHCC, MOA, GBBT, MOC, ACWF, SPRO attended the
    launch of the exhibition. Approximately, over
    3,000 people visited the exhibition from 7th to
    10th.

  • 5.Chinese Journal of Health Education
  • It is the only specialty journal for health
    promotion in Chinese. From 2002, the journal
    included a column for NAHPF, in order to report
    the current activities of NAHPF.
  • 6. Developed information resource center on
    the Internet, and improved the website of NAHPF
    www.nahpf.com

  • We chose three experimental units with
    different economic levels from the east, center
    and west of China. We will undertake the health
    promotion activities, and summarize and
    popularize the experiences.

  • Find the health promotion requirement in
    different regions, and explore the sustainable
    development model of NAHPF
  • The lifestyles of the farmers is changed and
    improved in the pilot communities
  • Help to make the criterion for the national pilot
    communities

  • The three pilot communities in Jiangsu, Sichuan,
    and Henan have finished the project scheme and
    organized the leadership group and the instructor
    group
  • The pilot community in Jiangsu have taken the
    launch meeting and workshop to the staffs

  • 1. The Primary Health Care Development Programme
    (2001-2010)was setup by MOH, NPHCC, SDPC, MOF,
    AGRI, SATCM, ZHB, May,2002
  • Health education was listed as one index of
    the ten indexes to the primary health care, and
    the index is according as Five-year Health
    Promotion Programme for NAHPF.
  • 2. The National Conference on Public Health in
    Rural Areas in 2002.
  • This conference is the first conference on
    public health in rural areas that was hosted by
    the State Department. And in this conference,
    Jiang Zemin and Li Lanqing both mentioned the
    NAHPF.

  • 3.The Golden Mike Campaign has been listed in
    the notice of 12 ministries, as one of the
    important activities of Send the Sanitation and
    Healthcare to Rural Area.

  • 4. The international organization take attention
    to NAHPF
  • The deputies of the NAHPF office attend the
    Asian Rural Area Health Care International
    Conference, and introduce NAHPF and the
    experience of the Sheyang, Jiangsu Province took
    the health promotion activities. The participants
    all showed great interest in them.

The plan for 2003 of NAHPF
  • Arrange the experts appraise the activities of
    the provincial NAHPF office implementing the
    Five-year Health Promotion Programme, according
    to the Supervising and Evaluating Index of NAHPF.
  • Cooperate with the Health Train. The 2003 Health
    Train will take the pearl eye operating in
    Sichuan, Hunan and Guizhou, and we will show the
    NAHPF posters and other IEC materials.
  • Cooperate with the agriculture technology school
    of AGRI, and transmit the messages of NAHPF.

    recognize the selected ones.

  • 6. The sixth leadership conference of NAHPF
  • 7. Expand the pilot communities in east of China.
    The first group will be Liaoning Province,
    Shandong Province, Shanxi Province, Hubei
    Province, Zhejiang Province and Anhui Province.
  • 8.Attend the International Public Health
    Exposition in Shanghai.
