My Most Memorable Field Trip

Hi, My name is Becca, and I am in third Grade
at Braeside school. Mr. Lacosse is my teacher And
today when we came to School, he told us he had
Some interesting news To tell us

Hi Students, How is everyone today? I am so
excited to tell you about a fun new project that
we will be working on over the next couple of
months! We will be creating an opera to perform
for the entire school and your families! How cool
is that?

I hate operas! They are boring and are filled
with terrible singers that I cant understand who
wear ugly costumes! This is going to be a very
long couple of months!

I know, tell me about it! I thought his big news
was going to be that we got a class pet, or are
going to Disney World or something along those
lines-not an opera!
This is hard we cant pretend were sick for two
months straight. I think hell suspect something
is wrong!
Rachel!! This has to be Mr. Lacosses worst idea
yet!
How do you think we can get out of it?
All I know is that I am not performing this opera!

Hi, sweetie, Hi Rachel, how are you girls? How
was school?
Why girls, I think it sounds like so much fun!
Operas are beautiful, why dont you just wait and
give it a chance! Ok?
It was great until Mr. Lacosse told our class
that we are going to perform an opera for the
whole school and our families!
Ok, Mom
We wont do it!

Well I hope you all are doing great because I am
so excited to tell you something this morning!!
Guess where we get to go on a field trip to next
Friday? The Chicago Lyric Opera House.
Good Morning class, how are you guys this morning?

This is going to be the worst field trip in the
history of field trips!
I know Becca, I know!
Announcement!!

So a week later, me along with my entire third
grade class, and my mom-shes a chaperon-boarded
the train at Braeside train station across from
school. We had a wonderful time on the bus.
Rachel and I sat on the top deck and played
twenty questions and charades. We made the time
go by so fast that before we knew it we were
there!!!

Once we got to the Chicago Lyric Opera House we
were welcomed by a nice woman who worked there!!
We were all taken to the main auditorium where we
were educated about what operas are and
specifically were given information about our
opera-The Barber of Seville After our welcome
we were taken on a grand tour of the opera
house!!!

So, we got a little history of The Barber of
Seville which I have to say sounded very cool,
so I was getting a little more excited. Next we
all got to walk across the catwalk, which is
above the stage! It was so much fun!! I love the
opera house!

So, a couple of months later, Rachel, my third
grade class and I performed The Barber of
Seville for our entire school! I had the best
time!!! The opera was a great success, but what
was more of a success was the fact that I gained
a whole new preciation for the opera!!
