• 200 pounds of flour
• 150 pounds of bacon
• 10 pounds coffee
• 25 pounds of sugar
• 10 pounds of salt

• People didnt have shoes to walk in
• Thunderstorms, snow, wind, hail,and drought
• didnt have basic skills like knowing how to
  drive the wagon
• Cholera and head lice were two of the many
  diseases

Why Take the Oregon Trail

• Only way to get through Appalachian Mountains
• Because they wanted a better life
• The railroad wasnt invented yet

• Coyote(shot for meat)
• Snake(tried to avoid)
• Bison(shot for meat)
• Bear (shot for meat)
• Deer(shot for meat)

Native Americans

• Some Native Americans were nice
• Some pulled wagons out of mud
• Some Native Americans killed emigrants
• Some emigrants thought all Native Americans were
  mean
• Some Native Americans gave food to emigrants
