Alimos (Kalamaki) is a small town in the
south-east of Attica, near the sea, just 11,5 km
away from the center of Athens. Basically, it is
a suburb of Athens, with 32.000 inhabitants. In
the ancient times here was the town of Alimous,
which belonged to the city-state of Athens. Here
the great ancient historian Thucydides was born.
Therefore, one main road has his name. Alimos
constitutes a separate municipality with its own
mayor. Alimos is a great place for tourists
because of its well-organized beaches and its
entertainment opportunities.
