3- In December of 2001, the Board of Directors of
the New York State Association of Land Surveyors
(NYSAPLS) requested that we, the Delaware-Hudson
Land Surveyors Association (DHLSA), an affiliate
regional of NYSAPLS, undertake the task of
setting a commemorative monument denoting the
center of population for the State of New York,
based upon the Census of 2000. - In January 2002, the DHLSA accepted this project
and created a committee to run the project. The
committee consisted of the following DHLSA
members - Paul Sevik, Jr. Chair

10- On Saturday, July 13, 2002, the monument was set
by members of the committee.
