To make adding classes easier, Administrators can
create custom packages of classes. Administrators
can also setup prerequisites for classes.
3Routine Administrator Activities
Below is the general series of activities that
Administrators follow to maintain an established
Tooling U training initiative.
Add Students and additional Administrators to the
site as needed.
Use Administration tools for ongoing monitoring,
reporting and notifications.
Print student transcriptions.
Customize classes.
Create training goals.
Print student certificates and monitor ongoing
training needs.
In order to make sure students progress with the
training requirements, Administrators can set
training goals.
Administrators can customize online classes by
adding company-specific information and materials
to existing classes. Tooling U also offers
multiple levels of customization for even greater
flexibility.
Group Reports summarize student progress. These
reports are available in different formats,
including HTML, Microsoft Excel, and visual
charts.TU Mail can send and receive messages
directly to students even if they do not have
email. Notifications can be customized to inform
Administrators when students pass a test, fail a
test, post a forum question, etc. Alerts provide
an immediate message for students whenever a
selected group of students logs into the site.
4Administration Tools and Terminology

A Subscription ID is an access code that a
student uses to register at Tooling U. Once the
student registers using a particular subscription
ID, the subscription is no longer available.
Student Goals allow you to assign completion
dates for specific classes, as well as set
completion dates for offline activities.
Groups allow you to organize students into
smaller categories, such as by shift, by title,
by level, etc.
Printable Certificates provide a means to view
and print student transcripts and certificates.
Messaging Tools let you send and receive messages
with students.
Student Permissions allow you to control the
activity of your students and customize how they
access their training.
Alerts allow you to create a message that is
immediately viewed when your chosen group of
students login to the site.
Registration involves a series of steps where you
assign specific classes to groups of students and
manage their training content.
Email Notifications provide a means for automated
email messages indicating when students pass a
test, fail a test, post a forum question, etc.
Class Packages allow you to create and edit your
own custom list of online classes.
Group Reports allow you to view the progress of
all your students. Each report provides you with
different information about your students
performance and your Group Administrator accounts
in different formats, including HTML, Microsoft
Excel, and visual charts.
Class Ordering allows you to determine the exact
order in which classes are listed in your
students schedules.
Additional Administrators allow you to provide
additional administration accounts so that others
can track student progress.
Editing Tools allow you to customize existing
Tooling U classes by adding text, images, and
video that directly relate to your company or
specific curriculum.

tracking both online and offline training, as
