DNS
  • DNS is one of the most important functions that
    CITES provides to campus and the world. Without
    it, students, faculty and staff cannot reach
    external hosts and the public cannot reach
    University hosts and resources
  • When it breaks, the Internet appears to be "down"

  • The interface provided to IT Pros is antiquated
    and limited use
  • Many current standards are not provided (Dynamic
    DNS, DNSSEC)
  • Policies and procedures need to be documented,
    updated and publicized

  • New physically diverse net of anycast DNS
    proxies which will automatically route DNS
    service around failures
