Title: SLOVAKIA

1
SLOVAKIA
  • a little big country

2
Our country
  • Slovakia is a country with area 49 036 sq km.
  • and with capital Bratislava.
  • STOP ! STOP ! STOP !
  • I know what are you thinking now. Oh
  • my God! Once again such boring
  • presentation!
  • But you are at fault !

A heart of Europe
  • Slovakia is a heart of Europe not only for
geographic location, but by the repose and
    good-natured people.
  • I have a dream that Slovakia will not be judged
by the history but by the character of a nation.

4
Slovakia through my eyes
  • The Czechoslovak socialist republic is written
in my birth certificate. I was born during the
revolution changes. Slovakia as an independent
country was for me my family and our flat. In
1993 in the age of 3 years I did not realize that
my native country became independent. More
important for me were the walks in our park,
Zobors rocks, or the football stadium. I
remember a lot from my childhood. One day my
teacher in the kindergarten asked me how did I
know that Bratislava was the capital city of
Slovakia. But now I know that it was one of my
mums great ideas to visit the Bratislava
castle, the Danube river and the Devin castle. We
didnt have a car so I was getting to know my
country from the windows of trains and buses. I
have visited many places such as the High Tatras,
Banská Bystica, ilina, many rivers, mountains,
towns...but also the biggest Bethlehem in Europe
    in Rajecká Lesná.

  • I wish the Slovak awareness would be
higher, but it has to be formed from the early
childhood and has to be inherited from parents to
their children. Thats why I am so grateful to my
parents that they have taught me the most
important things. Everything else has to be done
by myself. I know we are a small nation but on
the other hand our history, natural wealth and
    our hearts are huge.
  • I have to admit honestly that I liked it
less than a sherbet with my parents or my friends
at the National Theater in Bratislava. But later
on the sympathy for these places stayed inside of
me thanks to my parents. I realized it when I was
a student of an elementary school. I had a lot of
memories about the Devin castle and other
monuments. In this way I was getting to know many
places, life and people in my Slovakia.

Something about history...
  • Before zilion years were probably on our land
dinosaures. Unfortunately, they did not to leave
    any scriptumes.
  • From around 450 BC, the territory of modern-day
    Slovakia was settled by Celts.
  • After the disintegration of the Great Moravian
Empire in the 10th century, the Magyars gradually
annexed the territory of the Slovakia.
  • In 1918 the regions of Slovakia and Czech
    republic joined to Czechoslovakia.
  • After World War II. Czechoslovakia came under the
    influence of the Soviet Union.
  • Slovakia and Czech republic were separate on
    January 1,1993 .
