2CATIA V4 AEC Structural Frame Modeling (STF)
Overview CATIA V4 AEC Structural Frame Modeling
(STF) offers a wealth of tools for you to rapidly
model 3D frame structures. Design engineers that
develop, expand, renovate or maintain process and
power plants, large-scale commercial and
industrial buildings, ships, or other structures
can increase the quality of their designs and
extend their productivity. Using predefined
structural members from catalogs that conform to
international standards, the system can rapidly
place and connect the members according to
user-defined rules and parameters. Project
administrators can establish design standards
through set-up functions to ensure consistency
and compliance with company and government
regulations. Features Comprehensive set of tools
to create, modify and manage complex structures
User defined rules and standards for member
placement Intelligent connectivity between
structural members Includes modifiable starter
set of features for equipment placement to
increase structural modeling capability Curved

3- Common operating systems requirements
- Hardware requirements The following requirements
are common to all operating systems supported by
CATIA Version 4. System unit and graphic
requirements are platform-specific and are
detailed in the following paragraphs. - Disk drive an internal or external disk drive
(minimum recommended size is 4 GB) is required to
store program executables (installation of all
CATIA Version 4 Products requires 1.1 GB),
program data, usage environment and paging space.
- Memory 256 MB of RAM is the minimum recommended
amount of memory for all applications.
Requirements may be greater when large amounts of
data are used. - Internal/External Drives a CD-ROM drive is
required for program installation and access to
the online documentation, which can be downloaded
to disk. - Display a graphic color display, compatible with
the selected platform-specific graphic adapter,
is required. The minimum recommended size for
usability reasons is 17 inches. Minimum
resolution for Microsoft Windows workstations
is 800x600 and 1280x1024 for UNIX workstations.
When selecting a graphic adapter, hardware
texturing capability is strongly recommended when
using CATIA Version 4 products that use texture
mapping, in which case the amount of RAM has to
be adequate for the number and complexity of
textures to be used. - Keyboard a specific keyboard compatible with
selected installation locale may be required for
national language support. - Pointing device 3-button mouse. On Windows
workstations, a 2-button mouse may alternatively
be used (the third button is emulated with a
keyboard sequence). The 3 button mouse is
recommended for usability reasons. - Optional components and features SpaceBall and
SpaceMouse can be used, in addition to the mouse,
to perform graphic manipulations (zoom, pan,
rotate, etc.). Necessary drivers are delivered
with the device. Those devices can be used with
CATIA DMU Navigator 1 (DN1), DMU Space Analysis 1
(SP1) and all CATIA P2 Products. - The CADAM Drafting Products do not support
Spaceball and Magellan. - The robustness of the overall solution is
dependant on the robustness of the operating
system and the hardware environment used. Windows
and UNIX hardware configurations certified by
Dassault Systèmes for running CATIA Version 4
products are published at http//www.ibm.com/solut
ions/plm/. Although CATIA Version 4 products
might run on other configurations or other
graphic adapters, incidents specific to these
configurations or adapters would not be accepted
for support.
4- Sun Solaris Hardware requirements
- System Unit any Sparc Station 20 Model 71, Ultra
1 Creator3D, Ultra 2 Creator3D, Ultra10 Creator3D
Series III, Ultra 10 440 MHz Elite3D or Ultra30
Creator3D or Ultra60 Creator3D Series III/Elite3D
or Sun Blade 1000/Elite 3D supported under
Solaris 2.6.0 (also called SunOS 5.6.0) or
Solaris 7 or Solaris 8 may be used, provided that
the requirements described below are met. - Real Memory 256 MB of real memory is recommended
to run CATIA Solutions Version 4 in production
environment. The real memory requirement can be
greater if large or complex models are to be
used. - Graphic Adapter one of the following graphic
adapter is required - ZX for SPARCstation 20
- Creator3D for Ultra 1 or Ultra 2 or Ultra30
workstations - Creator3D Series III for Ultra10 or Ultra60
workstations - Elite3D for Ultra 10 440 MHz, Ultra60, or Sun
Blade 1000 workstations only - Expert3D
- Software requirements
- Minimum level required
- Solaris 2.6.0, Solaris 7, or Solaris 88.
- CDE 1.2
- FORTRAN 4.2 runtime required by CATIA is
delivered with CATIA Solutions Version 4 - SunPHIGS runtime required by CATIA is delivered
with CATIA Solutions Version 4Note The C
runtime environment is delivered with the
operating system.
