Great Migration
  • It was a movement of about seven million out of
    the southern United States to the north, Midwest,
    and the west from 1910 to 1970. the reason the
    migrated was to get away from racism, to find
    employment, and a better education for there
    families.

  • Before the migration, there were 2 percent of
    African Americans in Chicago's population. By the
    end of the migration, in 1970 it was 33 percent.

Philippine-American War
  • It was a conflict between the United States and
    the First Philippine Republic. It lasted from
    1899 to 1902. The war was a struggle for the
    Philippines independence.

Panama Canal
  • Was a man-made canal in central America which
    joins the pacific and Atlantic oceans. It was one
    of the largest and most difficult engineering
    projects ever taken on

  • The project was first started in 1880 under
    French leadership. The attempt failed and killed
    21,900 workers. The united states attempt
    succeeded and the canal opened in 1914.

  • Was a substantial amendment to the Monroe
    Doctrine by U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt in
    1904. it was the right to stabilize the economic
    affairs of small nations in the Caribbean and
    central America if they were unable to pay there
    international debt.

US Neutrality
  • The Neutrality Acts were a series of hures that
    were passed by the United States Congress in the
    1930s. The turmoil going on in Europe and Asia
    eventually led to World War II. They were spurred
    by the growth in isolationism in the US following
    its costly involvement in World War I, and sought
    to ensure that the US would not become entangled
    again in foreign conflicts, especially in Europe.

Espionage Act
  • was a United States federal law passed shortly
    after entering World War I, on June 15, 1917,
    which made it a crime for a person to give
    information the would interfere with the U.S.
    armed forces and to give false statements on the
    U.S. navy or armed forces to help out its enemy

18th Amendment
  • Eighteenth Amendment of the United States
    Constitution, along with the Volstead Act
    established Prohibition in the United States. Its
    ratification was certified on January 29, 1919.
    It is the only amendment to the United States
    Constitution that has been repealed.

  • The Nineteenth Amendment to the United States
    Constitution provides that neither any individual
    state or the federal government may deny a
    citizen the right to vote because of that
    citizen's sex.

    five-time Socialist Party of America candidate
    for President of the United States.

Fourteen Points
  • speech delivered by President Woodrow Wilson of
    the United States to a joint session of the
    United States Congress on January 8, 1918. This
    speech was intended to assure the country that
    the war was being fought for a moral cause and
    for peace in Europe after World War I. The people
    of Europe welcomed Wilson as a hero.
