2Trusts
- A trust is an arrangement when money or property
is managed by one person or a group of people for
the benefit of another but is owned by the Trust. - A trust is created by a settler, who entrusts
some or all of his or her property to people of
his choice (trustees). - The trustees are the legal owners of the trust
property, but they are obliged to hold the
property for the benefit of one or more
individuals or organizations (beneficiary). - The trustees owe a fiduciary duty to the
beneficiaries, who are the "beneficial" owners of
the trust property.

- In Economics and Political Systems, monopolies
exists when a specific individual, enterprise, or
business has total control over a particular
product or service. - Monopolies, also known as a lack of economic
competition for the good or service that they
provide. - Also, it may be used as to refer to the process
of Monopolism, this is when a business gains more
market shares than what is expected by the
competition. This can also be called monopolistic
competition.

- Thomas Alva Edison was born February 11,1847 and
died October 18,1931. - He was an American inventor and business man who
developed many different devices. - Devices invented by Edison had a great impact not
only on America but also the world. - Inventions included the Phonograph and his most
famous invention, the light bulb.

8Electric Light Bulb
- The incandescent light bulb or incandescent lamp
is a source of artificial or fake light that
operates by heat driven light emissions which
include the use of a filament. - An electric current passes through the thin
filament, heating it until it produces light. - The glass bulb surrounding the filament prevents
any oxygen in air from reaching the hot filament. - If oxygen were to reach the filament, it would be
destroyed rapidly by oxidation.

- The phonograph, also known as the gramophone, was
the most popular device for playing music or
other recorded sound from the 1870s through the
1980s. - Other popular names of the phonograph were
turntable, record player, or record changer. - Invented by Frenchman Édouard-Léon Scott de
Martinville.

- Film is a term that involves individual motion
pictures, the field of film as an art form, and
the motion picture industry. (Wikipedia). - Films are produced by recording images from the
world with cameras, or by creating images using
animation techniques or other special effects. - Motion pictures became very popular during this
time period.

- Sitting Bull was a Hunk papa Lakota Sioux holy
man, born near the Grand River in South Dakota. - He was killed by police on the Standing Rock
Indian Reservation during an attempt to arrest
him and prevent him from supporting the Ghost
Dance movement. - He is recognized in American and Native American
history because of his contribution to the Battle
of Little Bighorn.

- Wounded Knee also called, The Wounded Knee
Massacre, or The Battle at Wounded Knee Creek. - Wounded Knee was the last major armed conflict
between the Lakota Sioux and the United States. - It was described as "massacre" by General Nelson
A. Miles in a letter to the Commissioner of
Indian Affairs.(Wikipedia)

18Ellis Island
- Ellis Island, is located at the mouth of the
Hudson River in the New York Harbor, at one time
it was the main entry facility for immigrants
entering the United States. - Ellis Island operated from January 1, 1892 until
November 12, 1954. - It is owned by the Federal government and is now
part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument. - It is located in between Jersey City, New Jersey
and New York City.

- The American Federation of Labor also known as
(AFL). - The AFL was one of the first labor unions in the
United States. - It was founded in Columbus, Ohio in 1886 by
Samuel Gompers. - Founded as a reorganization of its previous
organization, the Federation of Organized Trades
and Labor Unions.

- Samuel Gompers was an American Federation of
Labor union leader and a key figure in American
labor history. (Wikipedia). - Gompers was born in London, England on January
27, 1850. - Gompers was the president of the AFL until his
death in 1924.
