Some facts and figures on the UT

• Established in 1961
• Campus university
• Entrepreneurial research university with an eye
  for the interconnectedness of technical and
  social sciences
• ICT university

• 10 faculties ? 5 faculties 6 institutes
• 15 educational programmes
• Major-minor structure
• Many postgraduate programmes
• Some 6000 students
• Total budget 180 million Euro

Stimulation of entrepreneurship

• Entrepreneurship knowledge and technology
  transfer part of the strategic policy of the
  university
• Entrepreneurship in the curriculum minor for
  non-business students
• Student entrepreneurship about 100 companies,
  involving at least 500 students
• University Student Enterprises (USE) support of
  students who are also entrepreneur facilities
  and coaching

Support of entrepreneurship and Research spin-offs

• TOP (temporary entrepreneurial positions)
  programme
• About 250 companies, some 350 entrepreneurs were
  supported in the period 1984 present
• Survival rate of our companies 75

• Institutional entrepreneurship based on
  research and/or intellectual property of the
  university
• MESA, Institute for Nanotechnologies experiments
  with taking equity
• In 2001 3 companies were spun out / supported,
  and in 2002 already 1

Entrepreneurial infrastructure UT

• UT actively participates in
• Business Technology Centre, incubator for
  high-tech companies
• Business Science Park, science park bordering
  the Campus
• Innofonds, a venture fund for high-tech companies

  still evolving

  important and necessary
