• Prefixes dictate number or fraction of standard
  units
• Widely used in scientific community and other
  countries

• Mass
• An intrinsic property that represents the
  quantity of matter present
• Measured in grams (g)
• English ounces and pounds

• The quantity or capacity of a substance
• The area an object occupies

• English pints, quarts, and gallons
