7National Secondary School Computer Fund
- The NSSCF was a direct result of the Governments
Digital Education Revolution. - D.E.R. GOAL - Provision of a computer for every
student in years 9 to 12. - Approx 1,000 per student has been allocated to
meet the program goal over four years. - At the end of the current four year program we
have been told to expect an ongoing 70 of the
replacement cost per student over 4 years. - This excludes students in 7 8.
8Current situation at SFX
- SFX has signed up to and completed stages 1 2
of the NSSCF program. - The target at the end of stage 2 was for a
student to computer ratio from years 9 to 12 of
21. - SFX is currently 1.929 students per PC in years 9
to 12. - There are currently 440 Student Computers.
9Current situation at SFX continued
- As we are not allowed to count computers for
years 7 8, of the 440 student computers 380 are
designated for the use of years 9 to 12. - On the current enrolment of 736 students in years
9 to 12 we will need to increase our student
computers by 356 computers. - If we install more desktops as per our current
strategy where do we put them without affecting
the amenity of the teaching and learning spaces
?????? - Laptops are the only appropriate solution !
10To be successful SFX needs to..
Involve all areas of the School community in the
process (Parents ,Board, EXEC, Staff, and
students) Have a strongly supported vision and
culture across the whole school community
Implement effective technical infrastructure
and support programs Develop co-operative,
student-centred pedagogies Implement structured
professional development for staff.
